NTAHC Board Statement on Shootout

March 4, 2020

In 2015, the end date of US Nationals shifted to a week later than usual, ending effectively the same week that move-in occurred for Shootout. Understanding that this would create a hardship for many attendees, the NTAHC Board moved the show to the only other available facility date, the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Over the past five years we have found that date itself has many issues, such as the proximity to Thanksgiving and Christmas and overlap with AHA Judges Seminar. Additionally, the weather later into the winter has had more of a negative effect on the show as a significant portion of available stalling and two warm-up arenas are subject to the elements. This has manifested as a 30+% decline in attendance, making the show financially infeasible. Rather than continue to offer Shootout, the Board has decided to focus NTAHC's resources on the MayFest Challenge. This is an important show leading up to the Region 9 Championship, with capacity for growth in both attendance and class offerings.

NTAHC thanks all the exhibitors and staff that have supported Shootout in the past, and for your ongoing support of MayFest.
